A few added extras.

I sent my cards off to be printed with moo.com because i wanted them to have a professional finish.I am happy with how they look (even though i did think they were going to be on a gloss paper). As all my work is quite fun and quirky i felt that i needed something extra to add to the cards, so i went back and stuck googley eyes onto some of them. This definitely was a good idea and finishes them off nicely.

Cards

I already had the motifs for the cards so they were fairly easy to put together. I took elements and colours from the wraps so that they would go together as a set. Using Illustrator i made them look like cards so you can see how they look in context.

Letters Wrap

I thought the single phrases could be used for cards an i thought that if i repeated them in rows it could be used for wrapping paper. I tried to keep the phrases in straight lines so that it could easily be read and i made sure that it wasn't directly below because some didn't fit on the page so you wouldn't have been able to read it all. The last repeat i did was this jumbled one which uses lots of different letters. It made me think that you could make the cards/wrap more personal by choosing what was written, then you could have 'Happy Birthday Sam' or something.

Letters Collection

As i have done my wraps for all 3 collections i feel as though i am going to have lots of time left at the end. I know i have my cards and extra bits to do, but seeing as the deadline is the 2nd of June i feel that it is easily achievable to do this. So i have gone back to my last project of cakes and sweets and chose to look at the candy ABC letters. I thought that by using these i could make them into a new type.

So i bought a big bag of the sweets, luckily i got at least one of each letter and i photographed them and cut them out. Once i had done this i tried to think of different occasions in which you would send a card.

These are a few that i came up with. I tried to make them fit the celebration so the 'Good Luck' has 4-leafed clovers and horseshoes.

Business Card

For the final show i wanted to have business cards printed so that if anybody was interested in my work they could get in contact with me. I used the circus themed bean repeat on the front with my details on the reverse. If you like my work, get in contact!

Final Splats

These are a few of my final designs from my splat collection. I chose not to give them coloured backgrounds because i felt that it took away from the images and they didn't stand out as much. I really like the top one as the splats really look as though they have their own character. Again i think that they work well for gift wrap (especially when you see them on glossy paper to the standard wrap size of 50cm x 70cm).

Final Thumb repeats

These are some of my final thumb print repeats. The first two use the same motifs (insects) but i have changed the colour ways of it. This shows how i could change the colours of the thumb prints so that it could be more suited for boys or girls. This bottom is under the theme of 'On the Farm'. Here i have used a mixture of all of the colours.

All of these designs are fun and quirky, my target audience was the younger generation, i think that it is suitable for children to young adults. I think that the beans are suitable for a slightly older age range as i think they are a bit of fun and they have a lot more detail to them.

Final Bean repeats

A few of my final Bean repeats. As i had grouped the bean together i then added some extra accessories so that they fitted with the theme and it also filled in space. These themes are Cooking, Random (a selection of just beans) and Witches and Wizards. The background colour is one that has been used in the designs but i lowered the opacity so that the motifs stood out from it. The motifs were layered in a scattered way and then put into a half drop repeat. I am really pleased with how they turned out and i think that they would look good as gift wrap.

My other hobby.. Cake Decorating..

I have always loved to bake (thanks to my nan who used to always cook with us), and i got back into it again once i came to uni. As much as like making and eating cake, my favourite bit is the decorating. This cake was made for an 'A' Party, complete with sparklers and lots of chocolate.

I made and decorated this cake for my boyfriend. Cant remember where the hungry caterpillar idea came from in the first place but this is how it turned out. One day i would love to do a cake decorating course.
